More details:

Westchester for Change announces a screening of the HBO documentary, “GasLand” directed by Josh Fox on Wednesday, August 4th from 6:15 – 8:45 at the Harrison Library, 2 Bruce Avenue, Harrison, NY 10528. The film is a compelling look at the issue of hydrofracking and the detrimental effects it has had on communities across the country: http://gaslandthemovie.com/whats-fracking.

This issue is of particular interest to Westchester residents due to serious concerns about the potential initiation of hydrofracking by gas companies in upstate New York. Assemblyman Bob Castelli, through whose offices a pre-release copy of the film was obtained, will introduce the film. Matt Wallach of Citizens’Campaign for the Environment will clarify technical issues raised by the film and will field questions from the floor. To attend, please RSVP to Westchester4Change@gmail.com or call Susan Van Dolsen at 914-921-3526.

“Who could have anticipated that one of the most effective and expressive environmental films of recent years would be the work of a Gotham theater director who’s never before made a doc? Nobody, perhaps least writer-director Josh Fox, whose “Gasland” may become to the dangers of natural gas drilling what “Silent Spring” was to DDT. The rare example of cinema art that is also an organizing tool, the pic has a level of research, gutsiness and energy that should generate sensational response everywhere it plays.” by Robert Koehler of “Variety” review from Sundance Festival.
